That’s not to say that Greylag’s self-titled LP is without merit. The members are in control. The sound is crisp and professional. When Greylag pushes their personal envelope the music is lifted, psychedelic and percussive. Yet, these moments of mild abandon are few and far between in what is a mostly repetitive and predictable album.

This is one of the LPs that I was really angry about getting rid of when I started buying CDs on the s and replacing my LP collection. I bought this new remastered pressing of Led Zeppelin 4 and it sounds great on vinyl. Vinyl sounds better than CD!!!!! There I said it, purchase this, you will be amazed.

Sep 09,  · "Another," the first track Portland folk-rockers Greylag shared from their self-titled debut album, left me thinking about Led Zeppelin at their most folksy as filtered through Fleet Foxes at.

Debut album from band out of Portland, Oregon who play dark and beautiful, haunted Americana that moves from folky touches to roaring guitars, all steered by poignantly harmonizing vocals. Greylag adeptly mixes reverence for tradition with an edgy, muscular modernism of percussive guitar rock. Shades of Band Of Horses, Fleet Foxes, Water Liars/5(5).
  9. Doujind says:
There is a vintage feel to Greylag’s self-titled debut album; from the old, cracked hardbound book represented on the album artwork, to the delta-blues stomp of tracks such as “Mama” and “Burn On”, Greylag are frayed around the edges, making sounds blurred into history. Greylag’s natural habitat is the back room of a crowded bar.
