    July would give us "From The Witchwood" and February the breakthrough album "Grave New World" which finally saw them go Top 20 peaking at an impressive No. 11 (see separate review). Overlooked – unfairly forgotten – a bit of a friggin' masterpiece frankly – The Strawbs' second album "Dragonfly" is all of these things/5(31).

    May 07,  · The Shepherd song is about Dave Cousins getting his oats in a hayfield, I presume, well certainly a tumble in the hay and is a particularly pleasant song which uses mariachi trumpets a la Arthur Lee and Love.     This album was originally the weak link in the transition of the Strawbs from an acoustic folk-rock outfit to a progressive folk band, being neither fish nor fowl and suffering from an anemic mix. The British reissue (A&M ), however, solves some inherent problems that plagued both the original vinyl edition and the first CD reissues.
